Richard's composing career began in the theatre. Credits include: 'Splendid Isolation', 'Apart from George', 'Macbeth', 'The Strangeness of Others' and 'Rescuers Speaking' (Royal National Theatre,) 'To Kill a Mockingbird', 'The Relapse', 'Antony and Cleopatra' and 'Romeo and Juliet' (Birmingham Rep,) 'Tess of the Durbervilles' (West Yorkshire Playhouse,) 'Hardie and Baird' (Traverse,) and 'Rock Station', 'My Goat' and 'Kindertransport' (Soho Theatre.)

In 1993 Richard teamed up with George Taylor as the 'Fratelli Brothers.' TV credits include 'Gamesmaster' (C4,) 'Arena: Stories My Country Told Me' (BBC2,) 'Freedom's Battle' (BBC2,) 'The Real Albert Goering' (C4,) 'Omnibus: Rebuilding The Reichstag' (BBC1) and the seminal reality TV series 'The 1900 House' (C4.) In 1999 they were joined by Neill MacColl and went on to score 'Ross Kemp in Alaska' (BBC2,) 'Dynasties' (ITV,) 'Beyond the Fatal Shore' (BBC2,) 'Dambusters' (C4,) 'A Year at Kew' (BBC2,) 'Warlords' (C4,) 'Alien Worlds' (C4,) and 'The Worst Jobs in History' (C4.)

In 2005 the Fratelli Brothers 'went solo'. Richard's recent tv work includes 'London Ink ' (Discovery,) 'The Da Vinci Detective' (C4,) 'The Mentalists' (Five) and the Bafta award-winning 'Make Me Normal' (C4.)
